I'm assuming we are still set in the future? Beyond the time period of the films? If not I think it would be in our best interest to be.
Furthermore I think the sight would be better with a bit more order and storylines. I think we should (for now) only allow people to be of one of four "factions" the Jedi, the Sith, the Grey Jedi, and Independents.
Independents should be allowed more freedom (ie they are like you or I in the real world and can do whatever they want not bound by the leaders or any order), but they shouldn't be allowed the ability to quickly grab powers. Nor should they be allowed to have force powers unless trained by someone who at least has some experience in one of the aforementioned "normal branches". How each branch reacts to such training should be up to each of the big three factions to decide.
Perhaps Independents could join forces and become certain "gangs", but even there their power should largely remain small (about at the power a normal gang would have on Earth. Even the strongest Organized Crime Family couldn't control the planet).
Once more members start signing up we should expand into other factions. Eventually we should even allow smaller factions once my NPC factions become regular factions .
I also suggest a few "NPC" players of power at this early stage in order to make sure one faction doesn't get to powerful in this "beginning". I think the Hutts should exist, as well as the Crime Syndicate among others.
Also at the moment I think the New Republic, the Empire, and other "universal" factions should be considered separate entities from the Jedi, Sith, and the Greys. At least for now until we get more members.
So I think at the moment ultimately there should be a complete total of nine factions with only four being organized by members and the other main five branches at the moment being controlled by NPCs.
Of those factions that are controlled by members these would be known as the big three for now:
The Jedi
The Sith
The Grey Jedi
NPC controlled factions:
The New Republic
The Remnants of the Empire (or old Empire if you will)
The Hutts
The Crime Syndicate (divided among different branches).
The Others (unexplored planets or planets with world governments who are not a part of any other systems. Also smaller organizations such as the Mandalorians , and certain confederation of planets.)
The players who refuse to be a part of the big three factions:
The Independents: (Can't have force powers without being trained by someone who was at least a member of the big three sometime nor can they claim to be in control of any of the NPC factions. That said they have complete and total autonomy of their actions. They don't have to listen to anyone and can freely join and leave any side during a conflict when they see fit. This would also be the place for people to go who eventually want to join one of the NPC branches and want complete freedom. Although people from the big three will be able to move to the NPC's as well when those options open.)
Once we start getting more members certain NPC controlled fractions can either merge with other groups (ie The Republic and the Jedi become one) or they could set up there own organization perhaps even fighting against their traditional allies (the Republic remains independent and also starts hunting down the Jedi well allying with the Sith along with other combination).
As it stands with the very few members we have I think we should make the "wars" between the orders small and personal. Although every player control faction may control one planet I think it shouldn't be the ones we currently control. We should keep "space battles" between individual ships and should keep the large scale conflicts to only NPC events. In other words The Republic and the Hutts could start a war against each other so the Jedi, Sith, and Greys have to decide what side they are going to pick (if any) and how to react. Independents of course can join whatever side and be enlisted into the services of the NPCs forces and be compensated accordingly.

'Stares at all the text' Why do I get the feeling I'm out of my depth here... O.O

Lol with time comes knowledge of how things work. I think what you said Ordo is a good idea and i will see about implementing it within the forum. This first needs to be discussed with the forum admins.

LOL well I can help you with structuring the Jedi Order since that is where my character is now. Of course if you prefer I could take over your position to but that's up to you lol.
Its not so much difficult as lots of work.
We also as a RPG like this suffer from people who are simply power hungry and not really interested in creating good storylines or making a enjoyable place for people to express themselves. .

I don't mind lots of work. I just need to know what I'm supposed to do. I've ran a faction before on naruto sites, but not on a starwars site.

*facepalm* It's basically the same thing(I'd guess). If you need any assistance, I can ask Urwen.

Hmm what if you want to be independant, how ever you was a Jedi/Grey Jedi, with a lot of skills and powers attributed to your character? Are you allowed to be independant?

Sorry I reread that wrong lol. Yes what you said is acceptable. You'd still have the powers you where trained in, but you'd lose the advantages of being in a Order.

From what i understand you can. Ill vouch for you if you need it.

Now im confused... any clarification?
Because we have two conflicting statements, and tbh, It allows me to just wonder about and have fun, instead of being perhaps confined to a certain order or approach, especially since everythings trying to start up again.

I think the forum needs a roleplaying discussion forum. Also, I think we need to go into more detail about the end of the war and the resulting devestation. I.E., how did this effect different governments/gangs/planets.

I was thinking maybe we could have a battle between whats left of the Empire and the Republic, and just battle with random NPCs we made and stuff, and maybe one faction could get wiped out until its rebuilt or something, I don't know, just a thought.

I think it should just end there. Anything that's left would be wiped out entirely. No Republic or Jedi or Sith or Empire. Everything is dead, never to be revived. The Galaxy would go on divided into various alliances and federations, and that would be the end of site canon.

I like the idea of a Forum wide RP in canon. I think it would help get people to join if they saw that pretty much everybody here was actively role playing
